Sharon’s Calming Ayurvedic Bedtime (or anytime) Drink

(Pretty yummy in the Tummy!)

This beverage will warm, calm and purify from the inside out. In summertime or a warm climate, lessen or eliminate the Cayenne. Curry is an alternative that doesn’t add heat

1 C. milk or milk alternative (I use Coconut or Almond milk)
2 dashes Allspice
1 dash ground Clove
1/8 t. (plus a dash or 2 more) Cinnamon
1/8 t. Ginger
1/8 t. Turmeric
1/8 t. Vanilla extract (or less)
1 pinch or more (to taste) Cayenne
1 pinch (5-6 short strands) Saffron (Trader Joe’s is very economical)
1/2 packet Stevia (may use Honey or Agave)

I sprinkle Nutmeg over top of the warmed mixture

Use a ceramic, glass, or non-aluminum (also avoid non-stick/teflon) pan.

To the milk, add all ingredients except Nutmeg. Stir often over low to medium heat until steam becomes visible. (Just before boiling) Turn heat down or off and continue stirring. The mixture will look rich with cinnamon, spices, and Saffron swirling and the aroma may cause you to salivate. Warm the mug then strain the beverage through a fine-mesh sieve into the mug. Top with a slight sprinkle of Nutmeg. Clean the pan, sieve & spoon so that you’ll have no labor after enjoying your drink. Then cozy up to this divine elixir while focusing on your blessings. Enjoy a good night or day:-)
